The weekend represents almost 1/3 of our week (29%), so if you work hard during the week to nail your workouts and watch your nutrition and then slack off all weekend, you end up not really getting anywhere. It is like taking 3 steps forward during the week and then taking 2 or 3 steps back each weekend and the result is no or minimum results.
Don't give yourself the "it's the weekend" excuse to blow off your workouts and to eat poorly. You are better than that and you are doing too much quality work during the week to let this happen anymore. Today is a new day and this weekend should be the first weekend that does not set you back. No Excuses!Monday, January 31, 2011

How was your weekend?
So, how was your weekend? Did you get to class on Saturday at the Mall? Did you get in an extra workouts? Did you keep your calories down and not splurge?
If you didn't have a great weekend that's ok...let's get right back on the horse and start anew tomorrow.
Here are some tips:
1). Email your coach, captain, workout buddy, or entire team and run down the list of classes you plan to attend this week. Make one another accountable! If your buddy tells you she is going to class tomorrow at Holy Martyr's and doesn't show up, CALL HER! Let her know you are keeping track of her progress and vise versa.
2). When you eat, EAT!
This may sound funny but most people do not just eat when it's time to eat. Turn off your tv, phone, cell phone and sit down at the table to eat. Do not look through the mail, do not stand and eat while your putting away the dishes from the dishwasher...just eat. If you do other things while eating, you tend to eat faster and more food than you actually need.
3). DO NOT PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE...MAKE YOUR PLATE AND WALK AWAY!
Do not serve family style. Make your plate, sit at the table, and take 20 minutes to eat what is on your plate.
Eat slow and talk between bites. Listen, I know this sounds almost impossible (especially with little ones) but try.
4). I want everyone, Purple and Green, to participate in the "NO" Challenge.
This challenge will start Monday 1-24 and end Sunday 1-30.

Snowed In Card Game to get you moving
Wondering how you'll fit in exercise today with the littles? Here's a fun way to get your exercise on and get the kids involved. All you need a pack of playing cards and you have yourself a workout!
Let's get started! Open your pakc of playing cards and assign a exercise with each suit. We've given you 4 examples below but feel free to switch it up to work on your target areas.
All cards have a value that will equal the number of times you will repeat the exercise associated with the suit. All cards 2-10 in every suit hold their face value. (So if you pull a 10 of hearts you will do 10 push-ups). All face cards (jack, queen, king and ace) are worth 12. (So if you pull a Jack of spades you will do 12 squats.)
Get the kids involved by pulling the cards and letting you know what exercise you have to do. Challenge them to join in on the fun and get moving...you never know having your little workout to a full deck of cards could help secure a fuss free nap time this afternoon!
Be sure to come back and let us know what you thought.
